Paul Korman aka Dr. K was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 26, 1950. His mother was a piano teacher and his dad played the harmonica, so there was always music in the house. Paul's family moved out to Long Island in the late 1950's. Paul's older brother, Fred, started playing the oboe in Jr. High School and never put it down. Fred's career blossomed as a concert oboist and has been the principle oboist and concert master for the Portland Oregon Symphony Orchestra for the last 24 years. Paul started playing bass guitar at the age of 12. Paul's first band was The Four Teens who played at many of the Jr. High school and high school dances throughout the 60's and also performed at the 1964 World's Fair Battle of the Bands. Paul's passion was always Motown music even though he was always playing in rock & roll bands. Paul took time off in the 80's to raise a family. Paul picked the bass back up and started up once again with a band called Mama Ray. His new Mama Ray Band shared the stage with such notables as Eric Burdon, Leon Russell, the Vanilla Fudge, Christopher Cross, Blue Oyster Cult, David Johansson, Bobby Blue Bland, etc. In November 2004 Paul and keyboard player, Marvin Floyd, decided it was time to put a Motown band together full of seasoned musicians who also have a passion for Motown. After a few long rehearsals the band was ready to hit the street. Since November Dr. K's Motown Revue has performed in Central Park, headlined at B.B. Kings, the Downtown, the Sugar Bar in New York City, and is scheduled to perform until June 2007 at the Wolf Den at Mohegan Sun. They have also performed for the United Nations' anniversary bash and the N.Y. marathon. Paul Korman (a.k.a Dr. K) has put together an amazing array of seasoned musicians that has either played with or wanted to play with over the years and together they have become Dr. K's Motown Revue. This band takes you on a very realistic journey of the Motown sound, and makes you want to sing along on every familiar song. They have kept the Motown sound true to its roots and in each and every performance they do send you back to another era...what a treat! Every audience both young and not so young has had an exceptional time enjoying every note that this band plays... Paul's band has shared the stage with such classic greats as Leon Russell, The Vanilla Fudge, Blue Oyster Cult, Dr. John, Bobby Blue Bland, Eric Burdon, Dave Mason, David Johansen, Chris Cross, and the Billy Joel Movin' Out Broadway Show Band to rave reviews.
