Stupendous, Terrific, and Exciting!!
FRIEND ENTERTAINMENT:
I just had to drop you a note and tell you how sensational, stupendous, terrific, exciting etc, etc your performance was last evening!!!
I had received these tickets from a friend as a birthday gift and to tell you the truth I was not excited to see a ?tribute? show but boy was I wrong!!!!! I cannot remember a better concert that I have been to in many years.
Every single group was superb. Your opening act, Sammy Sax and the MD?s along with your two singers were incredible. You had me right from there, I did not need to see anyone else. The Righteous were great and The Temptations, WOW they kicked it out of the park. Gladys?s Knight, that was performed by Barbara Harris-- you could of sworn that Glady?s and her Pips were right there in front of you dancing and singing to all her hits. She certainly deserved the stand ovation she received. The Frankie Valli group, Ragdoll made me feel like I was watching the Jersey Boys. They were a perfect ending to an already stupendous night.
Norman, you were a very gracious and funny host and made the evening move right along. I can?t believe that we were there for over 3 ? hours. I can?t wait for the next one.
Thank you ever so much again,
Loretta Riciardi
SEE YOU SOON!!!!!

I just wanted to say Thank You......
Hi Norm:
I just wanted to say Thank You for the show you put on for the Veterans last week at Snug Harbor on Staten Island. The talent was absolutely fabulous ! Sammy Sax and his band were the ultimate professionals, providing backup for all the groups. Two years ago you put on a concert on Staten Island with Vito Piccone, Barbara Harris and other original groups from the 60's and I will never forget Freddy Boom Boom Cannon that night......what a show he put on
We didn't have a full house.I am sure with the recession times have been tough. Hopefully the word will get out from those who attended and the upcoming concerts for next year a Snug Harbor will be sell outs. For all the effort and love you and your staff and the groups put into it......they deserve a "Full House" Thanks again and we hope to see you soon..

The show was AWESOME from beginning to end!!!
Thank you Norman for another great show. Saturday night in Roslyn was wonderful. The show was awesome from beginning to end. The opening was so touching. Very heartwarming. Then we got down to it!!
Every group was on fire. It just got better and better as the night went on. I am glad that the organization raised a substantial amount of money for the Wounded Warriors. It was a great evening all the way around. Earl Lewis and Barbara Harris never disappoint and they were just amazing. I absolutely love Leslie Anderson and Prentiss McNeill is a fabulous addition to your "family"!!!! Keep the great shows coming. I also want to add what a great host you are. You are a CLASSY guy and you always add some fun to the mix.Always charming and very entertaining. Keep it up Norman. Nobody even comes close to you!! Thanks again for a fun night and, as always,I look forward to the next show. Angela —Angela C. |
Hello Norman
Hello Norman,
I live in Easton Pa and have attended a lot of your shows down here. I also was on the Cruise with you on the Miracle back in 2008, we miss you in Easton PA, when are you going to bring the good shows back, the other company that is doing the State does a terrible job, in fact it was sooooo bad that the MC Mike Mittman did not show up for the MC JOB Lar Company was there and the only good act was Kenny Vance,
COME BACK.

Better Then The Real Thing!!!
Norman--Just Sensational!!! Just Sensational!!
There are not enough adjectives that can compliment you enough for bringing Long Island the TRIBUTE SHOW that you put on Friday evening in Bellmore. It was just super in every way. All then groups were so believable!! The Temptations, the Frankie Valli and the Four Seans Group, Sammy Sax and The MD's. And were did you find that Jackie Wilson guy??? That was some rockin' powerhouse of a performance. And what you personally bring to the shows cannot be beat. The humor, warmth and caring for what you do adds so much to an already great evening,
Please let me know when you are going to go back there again. I will tell you right now that I want at least 10 tickets. Thanks again for a great show and hope you had a great Father's Day. —Angelina Sturbridge |
We just wanted to "Thank You"
Hi Norman,
We just wanted to "Thank You" for the "Fantastic Tribute Show" you produced at the Bellmore Theatre Friday night.
From Sammy Sax & the MD's, The Fellas of Motown, B J Jones, and Ragdoll, they all brought back "Great Memories of the Past"
Thanks for producing these "Great & Enjoyable Shows" of Friend Entertainment.

To begin with .........
Dear Norman,
To begin, thank you for the opportunity to perform at the Bellmore Theater.
We'll give our special thanks to Ronnie R/3rd Edition when I see him.
The show was just wonderful. I was honored to meet you after hearing all the wonderful comments made about you by many people in the industry, especially, Ronnie.
I, as well as the members of Still In Style, look forward to other opportunities
with you in the very near future.
My girlfriend Stacie was surprised to see your wife after all the years that have gone
by since her ex coached baseball. Yes, it is a small world filled with many surprises.
Once again, thank you. All the best,

Absolutely great show last night!!!
Hi Norman,
Absolutely great show last night!!! Our group took up the whole 2nd row and we were all having a terrific time! You know how to put on a show!!!
Would love to see more of these tribute groups.....some are as good as (or better) than the originals! I saw TNT at Westbury years ago and your "Temptations" were better...they at least moved....the real group didn't move much. The girl singer, Denise, was fabulous. I could not believe how fast the night went and I think we were all disappointed when it ended.
Keep up the good work - we will be looking for more! I know Bellmore is a small theater but that made it all the more personal...just loved it!
All the best,
Barbara

Friend Entertainment Rocks the Roxy!!
I am sorry that I am writing this so late but I had a death in the family the next day after the show.
I am OK now so let me tell you THAT WAS THE BEST SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!! ANYWHERE!!!
EVERYONE WAS SO GREAT from Sammy Sax and The MD's our Northampton resident, to BJ Jones as Brook benton, to Ragdoll as Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons and of course The Fellas as The Temptaions....I still can't catch my breath and on top of that, Norman from Friend Entertainment who was the host,is one of the funniest and most friendly and congenial people ever.He had us in hysterics. Thanks again for a great show and we will be there again in December. —Agatha and Fred Glosglow |
WHAT A PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a fabulous day ,I honestly think it was the best party we've ever been to. Sammy Sax ,Leslie and Denise were exceptional. 3rd Edition accapella out of this world and the Tribute to the Temptations were amazing. Once again a wonderful show .Thanks Norm for all your hard work. Im going to email Barbara now about a winter oldies cruise with some of these groups. Pitman ,NJ is 1 1/2 hrs from here. —Linda and Dick |
A Fantastic Time!!!
Hi Norman ?
Just a quick note to tell you what a fantastic time we had last night. Sammy Sax & the MD?s were unbelievable and Denise Sergi and Prentice McWilliams brought the house down. It was 4 hours pure rock ?n roll fun. My phone has been ringing off the hook with people thanking me for bringing you to Four Seasons at Great Notch. We will certainly see you again.

ALWAYS A GREAT SHOW!!!
ALWAYS A GREAT SHOW!!!
Just a short note to let you know how much we enjoyed the Unplugged show in Bellmore on April 30. Having attended many shows in the past we find each time we go they seem to get better. As Kenny and the guys share the memories, harmonies, conversations and energies it certainly is a big part of "bringing the audience to the stage"; but I think with our most recent experience we walked away feeling it was much more than just a show but rather a family. We wish you success with the new "Tribute" and "Accapella" shows that are coming up and are sure they will be a great experience for all who attend. Thank you for all you do in keeping our music alive. We look forward to seeing you soon.

I,for one, thoroughly enjoyed the Show ..I sang along with practically EVERY Song. Yeah!
I was the one in the front row sitting next to the man who didn't show much emotion - but he truely did ENJOY listening to the OLDIES Music.....and watching all the Performers....

I caught the show at the Roxy
Hey Norman,
My wife, Joanne and I caught the show at the Roxy Theater yesterday afternoon. Sammy Sax alone, was worth the price of admission. We are originally from Brooklyn and have been transplanted in Northwest Jersey (Washington) for 30 + years. I was a long time member of United In Group Harmony Association and still can't believe Ronnie I is gone.
Anyway, I appreciate what you are trying to do for the music. Mostly, I appreciate the honesty. Real fans of group harmony realize we lose another great voice or member of a background everytime we turn around. Johnny Maestro was still in his prime. So what's left? Billing a group as a "tribute" is honest to the audience and at the same time, pays respect to the memory and talents of the original group. Yesterday's show was very enjoyable. I've seen both Leslie Anderson and B.J. Jones sing with the Dubs. B.J. has also sung with The Persuasions. Leslie has a great voice and did some great duets with Denise Sergi. They both had great solos as well. (What pipes!) B.J's Brook Benton stylings showed another side of this great entertainer. I've had the pleasure of a couple of conversations with B.J. in the past and he is a true gentleman. A nice surprise for me yesterday was to find the great Bobby Jay singing bass with a very polished Temptations group. (I was the relative in the audience.)
Frankie Valli just tuned 76...God Bless! So a group like Ragdoll does a nice job of carrying on. The background vocals were spot on. A tip of the hat to the Big N' Jazz Ensemble. Young people deserve some recognition and a place in the spotlight to grow.
Perhaps the only part of yesterday was the house was not full, but crowded ... I'm sure summer-like weather played a part in that. It would have been great to have the whole show in a park! All in all, job well done!
I see you've used acappella groups in the past as well. A great way to open a show, with some street corner harmony! Take care...
Till next time,Herb Olson

Hi Norman,
My wife and I were at the show at the Roxy this afternoon. Fabulous!!!! We really had a great time. Any date for the December concert? When I ordered our tickets I mentioned about getting Frankie Ford. Any possibilities bringing him in? We saw him at the State Theater in Easton and not only was he hilarious...he put on a great performance. Lesley Gore would be another good one. Thanks again for bringing in a great show. We always enjoy Sammy and the gang. We live only a few blocks away from him. We also are looking forward to the block party in August on Dewey Ave. Talk with you later.

The Show was SPECTACULAR!!!
Hi Norman .....
We just returned from the concert at the Roxy in Northampton Pa. and our first visit to one of your events. I must say that the show was spectacular, a true value, and quality entertainment that was deserving of a standing room only crowd! For the first time out with this particular show, everything was GREAT .......... and I'm sure it can only get even BETTER with time! I wish you much success with this format, and hope you keep coming to the Roxy in the future .......... your presence was truly enjoyable to all.
On a final note, I would ask for an address to which a donation can be made on behalf of the young girl whom Sammy Sax's wife was assisting to raise funds for her needed surgery. It seems that while an announcement was made about blue buckets being available as we departed the theatre ................ both I and my spouse couldn't locate anyone taking such a collection. While everyone is having a tough time of it ........... I'd like to at least offer something to the family in the hopes they can obtain the help that they need for their daughter.
Everything was GREAT ............ and we look forward to seeing even more shows from Friend Entertainment in the Roxy as the year wears on! Feel free to use any of my comments on your web site .... but lets keep the suggestions for improvement between the two of us!
Best of luck and regards,
Stephen A. Mahala

Saturday, December 5th - WONDERFUL SHOW!!
Dear Norman:
Hubby and I had a wonderful time at the holiday concert at Queens College on Saturday, December 5th. It goes without saying that your concerts are always fabulous. The Cleftones were a 1st for us and they were phenomenal.Interestingly they announced that they are graduates from my old alma mater Jamaica High School and sad to hear that the school is closing. The landscape as we know it is changing, but it is good to know that the music continues to flourish by your continued good work.Despite the weather, we wouldn't miss your concerts at Queens College and hope that you produce many more there as Long Island is a bit of a stretch for us. In any case, we've signed up for next year's cruise in August - so we will definitely see you then!
Best to all and happy holidays!

Coral Springs - Another Great Success!!!
Coral Springs - Another Great Success!!!
We drove 4 hours to get to the show in Coral Springs!!! Well worth the trip and next October is not soon enough to come back. It was like old home week seeing this show and all of you. You Norman, Sammy and the whole band are certainly the best around!! The groups were just super. Never ceased to be amazed with any of your shows. Keep up the good work, all of you. Thank you for all your hard work in keeping this music going and going and going. Again, we think you are the best!!!!

Please, Please come back soon!!!!!
Norman,
Thank you so much for bringing such a great show to Coral Springs, Florida. Even though we drove over 2 hours to get there I would do it again in a flash. What a great lineup of groups and the band was the best band we have ever heard.we have ever heard. They were great. It was nice to see some new groups down here in Florida. Normally we see the same groups that are based down here but to see some of those original groups from up north was just super. The sound was great!! Norman, you were the best MC /host that I have ever seen. Your humor, jokes and adlibbing had my group of 6 laughing all night. Please tell Howie and Judy "Thank You" for bringing our music down to Florida. Please have them keep doing shows shows. We will be there next October but sure would like to see a show sooner then that.
Thanks Again, for a great evening of memories. —Ralph and Connie Estes |
What a great show!!!!!!!!
Norman,
My husband and I and our cousins were at the Coral Springs show Saturday night. What a great show. Unbelievable line-up, the sound was great, the seats (6th Row, center) everything was amazing! Loved your jokes, as well. Can't wait till the next show. Do you sell any videos or DVD's of the shows? If not, that would be another great fundraising idea.
We have been to almost every doowop show in this area since the early 90's, starting with the Italian American Club in Hollywood, where we saw the Dubs with Richard Blandon, right before he passed away. The Dubs are still one of my favorite groups and still sounding terrific. It was such a thrill to see Cleveland Still going strong after his recent surgery. This music really keeps you young. Also wonderful seeing a show with so many original members still performing, singing, dancing, etc. Incredible!
Howie was correct. We saw him at the Broward Center a few months ago, and he told us this would be a great show. I don't have Howie's email address and would appreciate it if you could forward this to him. Our names are Pat and Dan McLaughlin and we have known Howie and Judy since the 2000 Lead East show in New Jersey.
Also, we didn't pick up a form to vote for our favorite groups to be on your next show. If you have a form and can send it, that would be great.
Finally, my husband Dan also grew up in the Bronx and graduated from DeWitt Clinton in 1966. He was on the Swimming Team. What year did you graduate, if that's not too personal.
Sorry for this long message, but wanted to share our feelings about the show. Hope to see you again soon.
Thanks,
—Pat and Dan McLaughlin |
Hot Theater....Much, Much Hotter Show!!!
Much congratulations on a super performance by Friend Entertainment LTD and all the groups on your show at St. Joe's College. Every group was just outstanding. The sound was great!! Your comedic skills were best this past weekend. You just had us in tears!! We were laughing so loud, especially when you took the broken mic stand and gallopped around the stage.
My favorite groups Saturday were Cleveland Still and The Dubs, The Passions and Sammy Sax and The MD's
All of us [8] are looking foward to see more of Friend Entertainment's shows. Thanks so much —Richard and Betty Cavaruso |

You are the real thing!!!
I have to hand to you, you guys are the REAL THING..
Norman, what you and Sammy went through this past Saturday in at Brooklyn Tech, HS, only true professionals could of pulled off.. With the sound being as terrible as it was, you guys played right through it with poise and professionalism always found in your shows.. I have seen you and Sammy Sax and The MD?s perform for many, many years and always you have given the best shows that anyone could ever go hear and see. The lineup this past weekend was sensational. The groups did the best that could do, under the circumstances and because of you, Sammy and the guys it was another truly great show.
Anybody that was there that has seen you before and did not realize how great you made things turn out, is just plain ?nuts? and unappreciative. All of you should be commended for a truly great performance and not just on stage but how you carry yourselves before, during and after the show.
SAMMY SAX and The MD?s YOU ARE THE BEST BAND ANYWHERE!!!.

A Valentines Day Memory, Thank You
In all my years of listening and attending OLDIES SHOWS I have never seen a better or more professional show then the one I as I witnessed on Feb. 14, 2009.
I have to be honest and say that I have never attended a FRIEND ENTERTAINMENT show before only because I have never heard of your company. I also have to say that I will never miss one of your shows again when you are down in this area. Everything was great, the groups, the sound, the auditorium, the mood of the audience, and you Norman are one of the most amenable, nicest, funniest MC?s/hosts that I have ever met. You make everyone feel really at home and at ease. The shown was like being at a ?friends? home. It was great!!

Thank you so much for keeping our music alive!!
Hi Norman,
Thank you so much for keeping our music alive. I cannot tell you how much I enjoy going to your concerts and even went on last years Doo Wop Cruise. Loved it and sorry I can't make it this year!
I wanted to share something with you, something that I'm sure your aware of but thought I would mention it anyway.
As I'm sure you know Lenny Cocco & The Chimes (now the Manhattan Skyline) broke up last year and he's now with the original Chimes. What I wanted to find out is if your going to have The Manhattan Skyline in any of your concerts. I went to see them a couple of weeks ago and they are awesome!!!! They now have a young lady that sings along with them and she is fantastic!!
Well anyway, just thought I would ask!

Kenny and his group where as fabulous as ever.
Dear Norman,
Kenny and his group where as fabulous as ever. The acoustics in the theater are wonderful crisp and very clear. It is certainly a lovely cozy theater and seats are all good.
My only negative comment is that the 4 lovely and well talented girls did not add anything to the production.
It was a Kenny Vance unplugged basically.
I will continue to enjoy your shows.

Thanks For Your Help!!!
Hey Norman! Came out to see the Kenny Vance & the Planotones show at Queens College on Friday night, January 30Th from New Jersey! It is always a pleasure to witness Kenny singing "Cara Mia", that alone is worth the trip. This is the first time my cousin Maggie and myself have been to one of your shows, and it was a real pleasure to meet you. Especially after the show when you had to change hats of sort and give our car a jump start when we were stranded in the lot!! Thanks for all your help, keep up the great work you do, Sincerely, Lori Kessell & Magdaline Matarangolo.

How do you do it!!
Norman,
I just don?t know how you do it so consistantly. I can?t figure it out?? How do you constantly come up with each and every show being better then the one before. It doesn?t matter if it a show with 5,6, or 7 groups or like last evening, just with Kenny. You are a master at what you do. Your warmth and appreciation of the people coming to your shows is so obvious. As we exit your shows people are always saying how ?caring?,? personable? and ?funny? you are. And that is why we keep coming back for all these years.
But last night was the BEST. Your idea about using the strings was so classy. It brought a new dimension to your now famous Kenny Vance shows. I have seen Kenny through our entertainment companies but he is always, always better when he is in a Friend Entertainment show. What do you do to him that makes him perform so sensationally at your shows??
Thank you again for a wonderful show and I will be calling you to order 6 tickets for the UNPLUGGED show in Bellmore today.
Thanks again for another great evening of Friend Entertainment, entertainment
Respectfully,
Larry and Veronica R.

You're the greatest !!
Dear Norman:
We had a wonderful time at the Lafayette concert on Sunday, January 25th. Our friends and family, new to your events, had a wonderful time as well and can't stop talking about how great a time they had. When we first started attending your events and got hooked on your fabulous shows, we spread the word to friends and family. I guess the idea of going to an oldies show didn't sound appealing to them at the time. You should maybe market these shows as old time rock & roll.
Special thanks go out to all of you for making me feel so special on my birthday. You totally took me by surprise by having Sammy & the MD's sing Happy Birthday to me and having the Cavaliers pull me out of the audience to sing along - yikes - totally unexpected. Also, I'm so glad you and the MD's were able to join us for dinner afterwards to continue the festivities.
Looking forward to seeing all our new treasured friends again on February 7th in Queens.
Once again, thank you so much sweetie!
You're the greatest!

Doo-Wop Night at Queens College-Nov.8, 2008
Kenny Vance and The Planotones, The Platters, and Shirley Alston Reeves headline Doo-Wop Night at Queens College
Norman Wasserman and his team at Friends Entertainment continue to play a major part in helping the Queens and Long Island sections of New York reign as the leading centers of doo-wop. On any given weekend, this organization brings out a bevy of legendary artists to perform their classic recordings in sold out auditoriums filled with fans that are looking to take a trip down memory lane.
A Touch of Classic Soul attended one of Friends? recent events?a sold-out show at Queens College?that featured Herb Reed?s Platters; Kenny Vance and the Planotones; Shirley Alston Reeves, former lead singer of the Shirelles; and Jay and the Americans.
First up was Shirley Alston Reeves, who did not miss a beat, as she brought back all of the Shirelles? hit recordings that had put them at the forefront of the ?girl group era? of 1961-63. With Cassie Hawkins and Iris Lammers providing backgrounds, Reeves quickly proved to be in fine form vocally, as she opened with ?Mama Said.? She then delivered a sultry version of ?Baby, It?s You,? while a spirited lead and angelic background harmony were on display for ?Tonight?s the Night.? The audience must have been waiting for ?Foolish Little Girl? because they gave Reeves a huge ovation after the first two notes. She carried this momentum into ?Everybody Loves a Lover,? for which she really got the crowd jumping. Following a shout-out to her former singing partners Beverly Lee, and the late Micki Harris and Doris Coley, Reeves received her biggest ovation for ?Will You Love Me Tomorrow.? She then paid tribute to the soldiers overseas, as she closed with ?Soldier Boy.?
Brooklyn?s own Kenny Vance and the Planotones followed, and their set was filled with good, fun dance music. To say that this outfit works often would be an understatement, and I now see why they have such a strong following. Vance can flat out carry a tune, the group maintained great vocal ability, and the audience knew virtually every lyric to their songs. A natural born performer, Vance often interacted with the crowd, which was greatly appreciated. The group displayed great 1950s street corner harmony, as they closed with ?Looking for an Echo? and ?Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight.? Needless to say, Vance and the Planotones received quite a lengthy standing ovation.
There must be hundreds of vocal groups going around calling themselves the Platters, but the real deal is the unit headed by Herb Reed, the only living original member. It?s not easy following Vance and the Planotones, but this quintet was up to the task. They opened with ?Twilight Time? and ?The Magic Touch,? which were done very well. With enough of their own legendary songs, they could?ve done without a rendition of the Temptations? ?My Girl.? However, they more than made up for it with ?My Prayer.? Lead singer William Newton, who has been with Reed for ten years, flat out tore this tune up. The audience didn?t wait until the group?s set was completed; they gave the group a standing ovation right then and there. If ?My Prayer? set the tone, ?Smoke Gets in Your Eyes? was Newton?s tour de force. The Platters closed with ?Only You? and ?The Great Pretender,? and received a well deserved standing ovation.
After a short break, the audience was treated to Friends mainstays Sammy Sax and the MDs featuring Leslie Anderson, who also serves as lead vocalist of the Dubs. This unit knows how to entertain an audience, and got the crowd revved up with ?That?s Why (I Love You So)? and ?Rockin? Robin?.? Denise Sergi then stepped to the mike and gave a grand performance of the Dreamgirls standard ?And I?m Telling You I?m Not Going.?
Jay and the Americans closed the show, and they proved to be well worth the wait. Their distinctive sound that made them one of the most popular groups of the ?60s came across on their medley of hits, particularly on ?Only in America and ?She Cried.?
A great concert is to be expected of any affair that Friends Entertainment is part of, and this expectation was met, as there was not a disappointed face in the crowd. Dear Norman, January 12, 2009
I just wanted to write to you and tell how pleased we all were with the Oldies show that you produced for our fundraising effort last month. You delivered everything that you had promised and more. It was such a pleasure doing business with you. You took care of everything from beginning to end. The feedback that we received from our audience was exceptional?.everyone had a ?Rock?n Good Time?.
The talent was out of this world! After watching these type of Oldies shows on PBS television, (I never miss them), I always wondered if they could be as good live. They are even better! First of all Sammy Sax and the Md?s have to be the best Oldies Band in the country. They are truly talented musicians and Sammy is such a great guy to meet.
The Dubs totally blew me away?.I still can?t believe how good they were?.they could headline any Oldies show.
Vito Picone and the Elegants?.they don?t get any more entertaining than Vito, what a crowd pleaser. And last but not lease Larry Chance and the Earls, a great finish to a fantastic afternoon of music and memories.
Norman from everyone at Salem, our sincere thanks for all that you did us. Now I know how you got the name for your entertainment company?.doing business with you is like doing business with your friends.
Thank you!

Lombardi Doo-Wop Concert for Cancer-Sept. 6, 2008
Dear Norm,
As co-chair of the Lombardi Doo Wop concert for cancer which took place on September 6, 2008,I want to personally congratulate and thank you for producing one of the greatest rock and roll shows Washington D.C. has ever seen. The groups were fantastic and we sold out the Warner Theatre! This show created a ?buzz? in this town that people will long remember. Most importantly, we raised a lot of money for the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center which treated my dear friend for pancreatic cancer. Lombardi will use the funds we raised to continue the important research they do to put an end to this dreaded disease.
Thanks for all your hard work and for making our event a smashing success. I look forward to doing the next one with you.

Dear Norman:
Thank you for kicking off the holiday season with a wonderful show. It was a first for Neil and me to see the 3rd Edition (unbelieveable acapella) and The Happenings (brought back great memories). The backstage tour and congregating with our friends surely made for a great get together before the performance. Your elf costume was a hoot. Looking forward to seeing you again up by us on January 25th and dinner afterwards. If you can let me know who will be in attendance from Sammy's band at dinner (since you're the great coordinator) and Neil needs to make reservations for a large group.
Just wanted to share an emotional story with you. I've been searching for my adopted family of friends for years and being the super sleuth I finally found 1 of my sister's in Minnesota who is flyng in on January 2nd and we are getting together with my other 2 sister's at her home out in Huntington Station Long Island for the weekend. It's going to be a very happy and emotional reunion after 35 years. I forwarded your website to them.

I moved back to SI in March of this year. One of the things that we missed very much were the FRIEND ENTERTAINMENT?S shows. We always felt like we were in your living room with a bunch of good friends listening to the greatest music ever recorded.
We attended your show on November 8th at the College of Staten Island all I can say is, it?s good to be home!!!
That show was probably one of the best shows that I have ever seen!!!
Everybody was really on their game. I could not believe that we were there for 5 hours. Kayla- was just adorable and boy could she sing, The Fireflies- sensational, Jimmy Gallagher and the Passions-Fabulous, Barbara Harris and The Toys-absolute excitement, The Expressions-great harmonies, Sammy Sax and The MD?s- are the best band I ever heard, and what can you say about Mr. Staten Island, Vito Picone and The Elegants ? They stole the show.
And you my friend were great. You are so funny!!!!!! Your jousting with the audience, humor, jokes and overall professionalism really makes everyone feel so at ease.

I want to thank you for all your help and for the wonderful job you did in organizing the ?Oldies to the Rescue? Doo-Wop Concert. It was our 3rd annual fund raiser.
What a spectacular show you put together. When one of the groups had to drop out due to illness, you went out of you way to find a replacement group immediately. The Shangri-Las were great. Kenny Vance and the Planotones, the Del Vikings, Cleveland Still & the Dubs, and Freddy ?Boom Boom? Cannon really out did themselves.
Your presentation of our event was tops. The venue for the concert was great.
Our special thanks to Sammy Sax and the MD?s who played throughout the whole night and was just outstanding.

I watch football every Sunday......
All I can say is that because of your show on Sunday afternoon at Kupferberg Performing Arts Center this past Sunday afternoon,[November 2nd] I had one of the biggest arguments that I ever had with my wife.
I watch football every Sunday. I am an avid New York Giants fan and have been for over 40 years. When my wife told me we were going to the show this past Sunday afternoon, I flipped out. ?THE GIANTS ARE PLAYING THE DALLAS COWBOYS, I am not going any where except to the living room to watch the game??so I thought!!!!
We attended your show and boy was I glad I did. I have never been to one of your shows before and will not miss any in the future [as long as the Giants are not playing].
Your show was just SENSATIONAL!!!!
Every group from Sammy Sax and The MD?s to The Eternals to Jimmy Gallagher and The Passions to The Teenagers and of course the great Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge was great.
Your presence on stage was just as good as the performing groups. Your adlibbing and joking around with the audience was really funny and quite enjoyable.
Thanks for a great afternoon,

What a spectacular performance you gave the crowd
Norman- I have to give it to you, you are the best!!
What a spectacular performance you gave the crowd last evening at Lefrak Hall. What a great venue, where did you find such a place?? Kenny and the guys were just the best I ever saw them. There is always something electrifying when The Planotones play YOUR shows. It is like they just dig down and bring up the best that they can be.
Your concept and direction in the UNPLUGGED shows is just PHENOMINAL.
Kenny is always singing new songs at these shows, and as a fan I just love it? I would go every weekend if you had them.I have now seen the UNPLUGGED shows now at least 5 times and every time it is like a new experience for me and my friends. I started coming just with my wife and now we come with at least 8 to 12 friends for each show.

Your charisma with the audience and your adlibbing with Kenny is like watching Lewis and Martin on TV. I have been to the shows at Westbury, Richard Nader's shows and to LAR, but none of them can ever compare to what you do.

Oh, My Goodness!!! What a show at the Warner!!
Dear Norman and Friend Entertainment,
My name is Samantha and I am original from Ozone Park, Queens, NY.I have for the last 25 years lived in the Washington, DC area and I am an avid Doo-Wop fan.
I have not seen an Oldies/Doo-Wop show in probably more than 20 years and thought that I never would again. I found out about your show about a month ago when some friends of mine asked my husband and I if we would like to join them and their other friends for dinner and an Oldies show. Since I have not seen my friends in awhile I thought why not go with them and at the very least we would hear some good music. We never get these types of shows done here at all.
OH, MY GOODNESS!!!
I cannot believe that I saw the most sensational Oldies show at the Warner Theater that anyone anywhere could have ever seen.
Norman, congratulations to you and your company for producing and hosting a most unbelievable array of 50's and 60's talent ever assembled anywhere.Norman, your stage presence and humor had us in stitches all evening. The way you handled the performers and the adlibbing and jokes you did with the audience was just sensational. Every group was better than the next. I loved them all. I was and still am so excited about what I just witnessed I just can't believe it. I have called at least a dozen of my friends and told them about your show and they ALL want to come to the next show you do here.
I hope you do not mined but I took a number of your business cards and brochures to pass around to some other charities that would be in need of your services.
I hope that the Lombardi Cancer organization did well from this show and that they bring you back again. It was just marvelous. Thank you so much for a job well done.
Sincerely,
Samantha Gennaro

Dear Norman:
On behalf of everyone here at Connecticut Community Care, Inc. (CCCI) please accept my sincere thanks and gratitude for all of your able assistance with the planning and running of our Kenny Vance Unplugged show at Western Connecticut State University on June 28th. We are still receiving rave reviews from our attendees who claim it as the best show they?ve ever attended.
I very much appreciated your assistance in lining up Kenny and the Planotones. In addition, your helpful advice and marketing tips, your promotions of the show at your other events and on your website, your help with the sound and lighting and of course, the wonderful job you did for us as our MC for the evening contributed significantly to the success of the evening. You really connected with the crowd and helped to warm them up for the wonderful show they were about to experience. I also thought your conversations with Kenny during the show really brought out a personal side of the performer that attendees might otherwise not have seen. Many commented on how down to earth he was and how they felt like they were talking with friends.
We are still pulling together our final results, but we know we raised significant funds as a result of the evening. We may be considering another show next year and will probably make that determination within the next few weeks. We?ll keep you posted.
Thanks again for helping to make this such a fun, easy and worthwhile endeavor. We were fortunate to have had such a great promoter!
Sincerely,

More from Las Vegas
Hi Norman,
Arleen and I just wanted to say hi and let you know it was really good to see you again. We hadn't seen you since your show for 9/11/01. Thanks for coming out to Las Vegas and putting on a great doowop show for us. The lineup was great. We had such a wonderful time and we could have stayed there all night. We danced in the aisle and just had a ball. It was good to see Kenny Vance and Bobby J and the Teenagers again. We really miss all the good New York shows. We really hope that this is only the start of something great. We hope that you will come back to Las Vegas real soon with another great lineup. We will be the first ones there. If you have another show, do you think you could bring the Encounters, the Duprees, Johnny Maestro and the Bridge, Harry Schmitt and Cornerstone and many other great NY groups with you?
Thanks again and take care for now. Hope to see you again real soon.

Another one of your phenomenal shows!!!!!
Dear Norman:
The concert at Queens College on July 26th was another one of your phenomenal shows!
They just keep getting better and better. Every entertainer received a standing ovation, including our Diva? Ms. Denise Sergi. We wish Denise and Leslie Anderson would cut a Duet CD. They?re a great duo. Also, it was nice to hear your kudo?s to Sammy Sax. I don?t believe the public is aware of his outstanding history. We thoroughly enjoyed everyone? Kenny Vance and the Planotones, the legendary Little Anthony and The Imperials. To top if all off, having the opportunity to actually witness a live Jerry Butler performance was just awe inspiring. We?ve only had the opportunity to see him on PBS, but to actually see a live performance will be a moment we will never forget. It was an unforgettable evening. For everyone who did not attend the concert, Little Anthony and The Imperials will be on the David Letterman show on August 26th. On a selfish note, we?re afraid these concerts will become so popular that they will spread like a virus and we will not be able to get tickets. As always, thank you Norman for orchestrating these wonderful performances.
Best to all!
another one of your phenomenal show!

I know its a little late writing to you as well regarding the past Doo Wop Cruise in May. First cruise I've ever been on in my whole life and it will NOT be the last cruise and of course it will be ALWAYS a Friend Entertainment Doo Wop Cruise that I will go on. Heartfelt "Thanks" from Las Vegas
Norman:
I wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks to you and the entire Friend Entertainment family for coming to Las Vegas and presenting a truly spectacular evening of great oldies entertainment on Saturday, July 19th, 2008. The Teenagers, The Chiffons, Leslie, Denise and of course Sammy and the band did a wonderful job, as did our west coast talent, The Marble Canyon Gang, The fabulous Goodfellas,The Storytellers and The Royals of San Diego.
Those who sat through this marathon event marred by some technical glitches were treated to a spectacular one hour performance by our headliner,Kenny Vance & the Planotones. Many were seeing him live for the very first time and when the last notes of "Looking for an Echo" resounded through the rafters of the venue, everyone in the audience felt he was well worth waiting for.
We look forward to a long and successful relationship with Friend Entertainment. Thanks again.

Returning to the UK
Hi,
We of course intended to write immediately after returning in the UK from the US after this years Doo Wop Cruise but a combination of computer problems and work pressures meant we're only getting this note off now. We want to say though how immensely we enjoyed the whole experience. After being fans of the music from afar for more years then we care to remember this was an excellent opportunity to see several acts we'd never been able to catch before in a really nice intimate environment. The whole thing was very well organised by Norman, Barbara and their team - the individual nights shows culminating in the last nights finale very well planned.
As for the acts themselves - all were fantastic. If I had to single out anybody it was the Dubs and Del Vikings - both long standing favourites of mine. Freddy was fantastic as usual - he's over in the UK in November (I told him how much colder and wetter it most certainly will be then !!) Barbara and her Toys excellent and the Elegants, Passions and Expressions all cool and really entertaining.
In fact, we couldn't recommend the cruise environment more.
We also caught one of Norman's one-off shows at Farmingdale High School the Sat night before the cruise left - first class event (caught another fave there - the sublime Harptones and got our first experience of the great Kenny Vance and the Planetones live)

A Big Thank You
We would just like to send you a big thank you for all the work you put into friends entertainment. The first time we orderded tickets to see Kenny Vance & The Planotones Unplugged concert I was amazed at the wonderful service you provided over the phone and it continued right through the show. Your friendly and kind personality certainly makes me want to keep coming back to share in these wonderful evenings. Kenny and the guys get better each time we see them and each person in the unplugged audience feels they are a part of the group. My wife and I look foward to being a part of your future audiences as you do your part in keeping the doo wop sound alive.
Thanks again Norman. We'll see you soon!

My friend and I enjoyed your show........
Hi, I would like to just write and tell you how much my friend and I enjoyed your show. It is the first time I have ever attended your show and we had so much fun. The only complaint I do have is that sometimes the band was more louder than the singers and it took away from the performances.
You were very funny and Vito and his band were a lot of fun as well. The food was great and the dancing topped it all off. I had a hard time hearing all his jokes though again because of the sound system.
I have to tell you that little girl Kayla gave me goosebumps. She sounded like Brenda Lee and Connie Francis when she sang those songs. That little girl has a bright future a head of her.She made the show that much more incredible.I keep telling my friends about her, but they have to listen for themselves.
We plan on bringing our friends to the next show in our area and we hope there will be a 2nd doo-wop show next year in Polish Town.
Sincerely
Marge Gromling

UNBELIEVABLE!!! PBS has nothing on you Norman
Unbelieveable!!!! PBS has nothing on you Norman!! This past Doo Wop Cruise was nothing short of just plain Heaven. We are sorry this is so late in coming in, however my wife got sick after getting back. (Probably Too much partying). However the way you and your "crew" put this on is just "fantabulous". You are all to be commended on a fine job. This is our 4th Doo Wop Cruise and our first with you and hope it isn't the last. No comparison to any other company that hosts this shows. You are the BEST!!! Sammy Sax and his group!!!! All the groups were fantastic, the new friends we made and we certainly appreciate your consideration of the handicapped. And Kudos to Barbara and Empress Travel. All of you just couldn't have done anything better!!!! However, We live in St. Petersburg, Florida and it is too bad you are not closer so we could enjoy more of your productions. You know the cruise ships could make a swing into the Tampa Port to pick up all of us from here. LOL We had a great time and can't say enough. Thank you, thank you thank you. Baby Let Me Take You On A Sea Cruise!
Baby Let Me Take You On A Sea Cruise!
Ooooo-Weeee.... Another Friends Entertainment Extravaganza! We don't know how you do it Norman, but you do it so well. Although we've travelled quite extensively, we weren't quite sure what to expect being 1st time cruisers. Kudo's to Barbara Carol who at times sacrificed her own enjoyment of the cruise to ensure the satisfaction of her fellow seafarers. Several times we noticed Barbara was missing from dinner and when we inquired about her whereabouts we discovered she was out running around making other people happy. So mega kudo's to her for her never ending commitment to excellence from beginning to end in attending to our needs and more.
A warm and sincere gratitude to all the legendary performers that were absolutely phenomenal!!! Everyday was a non-stop party. We're still recovering from the lack of sleep. We shared great company and laughs and you all embraced us as if we were family. We found your humble graciousness and your support so touching! We profoundly Thank You for keeping us thoroughly entertained and keeping this wonderful music alive and keeping us young at heart.
All-in-all we had a fabulous time, Norm you made so many promises about how much fun these cruises were, as we all know, promises are easy to make, but much more difficult to keep. You Norman Wasserman not only kept your word, but surpassed it beyond our wildest expectations, so much so that we signed up for next year's cruise. We've made many new friends and hope we will all stay in touch. Until our next sailing.... I'm sure we will see you at future Friend Entertainment concerts.
Norm, if I can anyway assist you in planning or organizing your next cruise, please don't hesitate to ask for anything "but please don't ask me to be lonely"
Be Well, Stay Healthy, and most of all keep the Doo Wops coming!
Thanks for the memories... Dianne & Neil

Amazing Doo-Wop Cruise
Hi, Norm! Thank you again for the AMAZING doo-wop cruise we just experienced.I'd love to talk with you about doing a cruise in 2009 on the West Coast. My DJ friends from Timewarp Radio are playing the songs we heard last week on the Miracle, and would advertise it to all of their listeners around the
world. Also, we have K-EARTH 101 and of course, The Boomer (where we heard about your cruise) here in Ventura County.I think there are lots of west coast performers still around, but I know the Del Vikings WANT to come if we can pull this off next year. But I'm not sure what that would entail, bringing east coast entertainers out here.Freddy lives about 30 minutes from me,so I know he'd be an easy one.
When you catch your breath,I'd love to chat with you! Maybe in the September, 2009 timeframe, would that work at your end? I'm thinking it might take that long to arrange such a different type of cruise for you, from our end of the world.I think it's an un-tapped market, actually, and I'd love to know you do really well here in California.
I looked at your performance schedule and I'd maybe like to use the free coupon you handed out for the Vegas one in July,if there are still seats available.
Anyway, you did an amazing, amazing job, Norm, and it was incredible watching you work.I'd sure love to be on a ship with you someday! Thanks, again for everything

2008 Oldies Cruise--WOW,WOW,and WOW!!
Norman,
My wife and I are still in awe of the performances that FRIEND ENTERTAINMENT presented to a sold out cruise last week. I have been on over 12 cruises in my life. I have been on Oldies Cruises, regular cruises, and other themed cruises but NEVER, NEVER EVER have I had such a wonderful time as the cruise that you and your company Friend ENTERTAINMENT gave us. All the groups were so great. They all were so friendly and approachable. We sat and talked to all of them either with a drink, or by the pool or by the famous Entertainers Table on the Lido Deck.
Norman, you were the same gracious self as you are at all your concerts. You always showed concern that EVERYONE HAD A GREAT TIME and on stage you really were super and so funny. You made the crowd feel so comfortable and entertained.
I never knew you could dance so well!!!!
Your band SAMMY SAX and THE MD?S is nothing short of the absolute BEST. Leslie Anderson and Ms Denise Sergi are sensational. Boy, can Denise sing, WOW, WOW, and WOW!!
Vito Picone and The Elegants were their normal sensational self?s offering music and comedy. Vito coming done the aisle as ?Rocky? had me on the floor.
Barbara Harris and The Toys still have my wife and I talking and dancing, they were just wonderful.
What can you say about Cleveland Still and The Dubs, they are a legend and were also so fabulous.
The Del-Vikings high energy really got everyone pumped up for what was to come. We love their songs.
The Passions were funny and really enjoyable to watch and be with.
Freddy Cannon is really a ?rock ?n? roller. Were does he get his energy from!!
The Expressions is one of the best accapella groups I ever heard and a real nice bunch of guys.
Thank You again for a wonderful time and we will see you REAL SOON!!!!

Dear Norman,
I'm so sorry I can't be with you tonight at the celebration of your 20th Friend Entertainment Anniversary Show but I do want to extend my gratitude and thanks to you for the many years of keeping the oldies and Doo Wop music alive. After attending my first Friend Entertainment Show a number of years ago, I just knew that we connected as friends and that I needed for you to guide me in doing my first Friend Entertainment Oldies Concert Fundraiser. Needless to say I am now organizing our 7th fundraiser to offer scholarship awards and summer music lesson grants to our music students. Friend Entertainment has helped many organizations, clubs, individuals, and families reach their goals to meet their specific needs through fundraising efforts with your support. Your shows are the finest around, your performers each have their own individual style with a beautiful blend of talent and music, the amazing Sammy Sax & the MD's, the best and most talented band I've ever heard and of course Leslie & Denise, a "dynamic duo" together on stage. Continue to do what you love to do and that is keeping the Oldies alive. Wishing you and your ?Friend Entertainment? family continued success for at least another 20 years and for bringing us the many music memories to enjoy.
Thank you Norman for being the person you are.
"Congratulations and Best Wishes"
Fondly,
Your friend,

Congratulations to you on your 20th anniversary in the business and to all the great groups that came out to support you.

2 FRIENDTASTIC SHOWS!!!
Hi Norman! Two Friend-tastic shows back to back weekends!!! We went to Mineola High School last weekend and totally enjoyed six hours of the greatist doo-wop music groups of today. It was nothing but laugh after laugh when Vito Picone and the Elegants did their set in I'm ready to go home attire. The groups,Sammy Sax and the MD'S and you put on a show that after long hours on your part was a super show as always!
Last nite at your 20th anniversary show at Queen's College, you deserved all the awards and congrats from everyone. Starting with opening by Gary Fuchs to the last note sung by the legendary Teenagers, The show was a reflection of all the hard work you put in your love for doo-wop over the past twenty years and to helping people with outstanding fund raisers of all types. 38th Wedding Anniversary Wedding Gift
My husband bought me tickets for the show on Saturday. It was our 38th wedding anniversary gift. I really enjoyed myself, Over 5 hours of doo wop at its best!! That Kayla is a living doll. But our favorite act by far was 3rd Edition.Too sing like that with no music is remarkable. They were the best!!Some of the other acts we enjoyed were The Elegants, Quotations and Shades of Blue. The Elegants outfits were hysterical and they were so much fun. The people who left early missed a great show by them. I'm glad I stayed for the entire show to see them. Shades of Blue sang "Oh How Happy" just like the record 40 years ago. They also did a very moving rendition of Clyde McPhatters "Without Love I Had Nothing". Nice showmanship too. Quotations first song may have been the best version of the Platters "Smoke Gets In your Eyes" I have heard since the original. The heavier lead sang it and was excellent. The other groups did well too though.

Doo-Wopped Out!!!!
Norman,
I am completely Doo-Wopped out by that sensational show you put on this passed Saturday evening at Mineola H.S. I have been to your shows in the past, but I have to admit that do to health reasons have not been able to see one in this past year. Boy did I make up for it!!!! Six hours of the music I love was just incredible. Each group out did the group prior. The Quotations were great, The Fireflies are sensational, Shep?s Limelites haven?t lost a thing, Barbara Harris and the Toys set the place on fire!!, The Shades of Blue from Detroit, Michigan did some great stuff, The Cavaliers rocked with their 4 Seasons routine, your little sweetheart KAYLA stole the audience, The 3rd Edition are the best accapella group I have ever heard, Vito Picone and The Elegants have one of the most entertaining shows around and their stage clothes made the audience roar with laughter, your band Sammy Sax and The MD?s are the best cover band around.
Norman, I am not leaving you out. Your warmth with the audience and your relationship with the groups on stage along with your sense of humor really makes the night complete.
Thank you again for a great show and I will try and make your 20th anniversary show next week.

Kenny Vance and The Planotones, The Duprees and your house band [that I never heard] of Sammy Sax and The MD?s were out of this world. The 2 singers to your band just floored me and my wife. We can?t wait for your next show in November with Johnny Maestro and The Brooklyn Bridge. Thank you for a job very, very well done. You could see by the packed house that everyone here in Rockland County truly loved what you presented.
Thank you, see ya? later alligator

From the bottom of my heart!!-Thank You
Norman,
Thank you FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART so much for putting on the show on March 29, 2008 at Kupferberg Performing arts Center with FRANKIE AVALON and LESLIE GORE. God, the were my favorite as a kid and they have not lost anything. And Frankie is soooooooooooo good looking still. The band and the sound were great and hearing Leslie singing all her hits really took me and my 5 other friends back in time. Also let me compliment you on your orchestra SAMMY SAX and THE MD?s they were also sensational. Leslie Anderson from The Dubs and your other singer Denise, they are some duet!!!!! And of course watching you come out and play the tambourine was really a treat!!!! I am looking forward to your next show there in July with Little Anthony, Jerry Butler and Kenny Vance. Keep up the tremendous the job you do.
Thank You again,
—Georgine T. |
Oldies Hits Rockland County-was phenomenal!!!!!
The concert at the Lafayette Theater on Sunday March 30th was phenomenal!!!!! We've schlepped to PA and Queens to attend your wonderful concerts, but it was great to have a performance in our hometown. As always Sammy Sax & the MD's were great along with Denise Sergi. Kenny Vance and the Planatones are always great and Kenny sang one of my favorite songs Cara Mia... what a voice. The Duprees are a class act - boy can they move. All in all it was a wonderful Sunday afternoon event. Unfortunately, 3 hours of wonderful goes by too fast.
Thank You - Thank You - Thank You!!!! for bringing the oldies to the Hudson Valley! We've already purchased our tickets for the September 28th performance at the Lafayette Theater and hope to see more!

One of the best Oldies Shows!!!!
Norman,I apoligize for not sending this sooner but I just wanted to thank you for one of the best Oldies Shows I've seen in a long time. I have a small company in Allentown and as a Christmas treat I bought tickets for all my employees to your show. They were all in agreement it was great. After the show we met Lenny of Bill Haley's Comets in the lobby. He gave each of my employees a small photo of Bill Haley's Comets and talked to each one as if they were personal friends. This I think was the highlight for them all as they are still talking about it. I'm looking forward to the next show I can attend. Thank you again from me and my crew. Tony DeStefano

FORGOTTEN GENERATION!!
Norman - Just wanted to say that Kenny Vance and the Planotones:Unplugged concert was the best show I've ever been to. The electricity on stage and in the audience could have lit up the boro of Queens.
Thank you for alway putting a wonderful array of entertainment together for the FORGOTTON GENERATION. Regards, Maria Vella —Maria Vella |
You Have The Best Shows!!!!
Hi Norman,
Just thought I would drop you a line and let you know that you have one of the best show formats in the area.
I attended Mickey B's doowop last night at the Patchogue Theater. He talks too much, has to many companies and charities that he plugs inbetween acts. Also the wizeman "act" is a bit annoying also. He waste are precious doowop time.
You come out say a few cute things, plug your future shows and that's it. I know if it is a charity fund raiser they do have to come on stage once, but that is it. You do not constantly repeat and repeat it all night long.
So keep up the good work. If anyone sees the comparison as I have they will definitely pick your shows over his.
However, could you please try to have more in Suffolk County (not so many in Queens). I know you have now at St Joseph College which helps.

February Bayside Blast!!!!
Hi Norm, wanted to send you a special THANK YOU for all your help on Saturday's show, everything went beautifully. Tom was delighted and I'm sure he will be in touch with you about doing a 2nd show. I realize now, what a big undertaking this was for Tom & I to do, but we both loved it. Wish we had filled the entire auditorium, maybe next time.
As I enjoyed the show, I felt each group just was better than the next and then came Frankie Lymon's Teenagers. What a great close - everyone I talked to today at work thought all the groups were great and were amazed at the length of the show. They got more than their monies worth is how they felt! In a way I'm sad it's over --I just loved the day. Spent some time with the performers and Trish - Kayla's Mom - she was lovely to talk to and quite interesting. I know we will stay in touch and thank you again. Jeannette
P.S. I just received the e-mail about the jackets - any chance of a jacket for Tom & I? Guess we sort of qualified for the 10 ticket thing already!

Unplugged was Unbelievable!!!
Norman,
What a GREAT idea you came up with and what a show we saw last evening at Queens Theater in The Park. Your KENNY VANCE: UNPLUGGED concert is a stroke of pure genius. You have taken one of the super stars of our music and basically rewritten and created a new career for him. His musical genius and your creativity have joined forces and are giving to the fans an evening that they will never forget. The Q & A is also a great touch. It was like having a comedy show within a concert and gave the fans a chance to see the other side of Kenny's personality!! And you my friend are a absolute scream. You were making my sides hurt with your quick witted comments. That was a great part of the show as well. This is the first UNPLUGGED show that my wife and I have attended and did not really know what to expect. We love Kenny Vance and have been to a number of your shows over the last couple of years, so we figured "let's give it a try", and we were anything but disappointed. I promise you this, WE WILL BE AT EVERY UNPLUGGED SHOW YOU HAVE!!!!.
Thank You again for a wonderful night of great UNPLUGGED entertainment. See you June 27th in Bellmore

The Greatest Time Ever!!!!
To Norman and Friend Entertainment,
I have never been to one of your shows before because I do not drive. So needless to say that when I heard that you were going to be at Bayside HS, I made sure not to miss the show. I attended the show with 4 other women who are also in the same situation as I; we are widows who do not drive.
I just wanted to tell you that, WE HAD THE GREATEST TIME EVER!!!! WHAT A SHOW!!! From the time that cute little KAYLA come out and sang her songs to the time that you danced off the stage with Frankie Lymon?s ?Legendary? Teenagers the show was SENSATIONAL. You are the funniest MC, you?re ad-libbing and gestures had us in hysterics. Then when the band brought you out [in their little skit] and you started playing the tambourine, that was a super suprise!! You were good and that was great.
The Passions, Willie Winfield and The Harptones, Earl Lewis and The Channels were just as I remembered them..what memories. Sammy Sax and The MD?s WHAT A BAND!!!! THEY DID NOT MISS A NOTE and your 2 singers are exceptional. They are better then some of the acts that are out there today.
You really have this down pat. I can see why you have been doing this for 20 years. PLEASE, PLEASE come back again soon.
My friends and I will get a cab and come to your anniversary show and all the other shows at Colden Center Queens College.
MY FRIENDS AND I REALLY APPPRECIATED SEEING ALL GROUPS.
Norman, keep up the great work WE LOVED IT

Thanks for coming back to Allentown, PA
Norman, Thanks so much for coming back to Allentown, Pa. I came to your first show here 2 years ago and to all the shows since. But I have to say that last nights show was the SHOW OF SHOWS. What a lineup of talent. Everybody complimented each other. 10 year old KAYLA, wow what a kid and what a voice. She was the cutest!!! The Fireflies were great, Vito Picone and The Elegants put on such a great show, Bill Haley?s Comets had us rock ?n ? rolling in our seats, Jay and The Americans just blew us away and last but not least your band, Sammy Sax and The MD?s are just sensational. I will certainly not miss your show in Stroudsburg in August. THANK YOU again!!!!! For keeping the music alive and continuing bringing you great shows to us.

It was super!!!!
Hi Norman, I was at the 9:00PM show in Levittown last nite.It was SUPER!!!!! I know the performers(Passions,Chiffons,Vito Picone and The Elegants, Del-Vikings,and The legendary Teenagers) were there since early afternoon. The second show did not even tell us that the fantastic performers might be tired for such a long day.Sammy Sax and The MD'S- WOW-to play for two full shows and doing a super job!!!! Norman, you did a super job as always to let us doo-wop music lovers continue to enjoy our music. Thank you again for another great show!!!

Great Show!!
Hello-
Norman, I went to the 1st show 5 years ago at MacArthur HS and every year since. I attended in the last 5 years [since that show] approximately 20 other Friend Entertainment oldies shows and even came to see The Fab Faux at Queens College. But there was just something about last night?s show that tops it all!!!! I can?t put my finger on it. I am not sure if it was the great entertainment, the actual lineup of the groups, the Sammy Sax and the MD?s orchestra or your masterful handling of the audience. But last night s show certainly rates among the best you I have ever seen. The show started at about 9:20 PM and I know that I left the auditorium at 1:02 AM. The time just flew by. You must be totally exhausted being that the show I went to was the 2nd show of the day.
The music is and always will be great!! But YOU, bring such a great dimension to your shows. Your personality and humor always makes my friends and I fill at home. It is like we are not at a staged show but rather at someone?s home having a party!! As we leave the theater we hear other people say the same thing the music is great but Norman makes it happen!!! PLEASE DON?T STOP!!!
—Richard Paget |
What a start!!!!
After New Year's eve New Year's eve party- What an unbelievable way to start a New Year with the best of Doo-wop entertainment!!! Everything was A-1 from the pick of menu choices to the top notch music of the 50's and 60's we enjoy the very most. The 3rd Edition were super, Leslie and Denise sing all so well together, and what can be said about the Kenny-fantastic Vance and the Planotones?????What a spectacular group and CAN THEY BRING THE HOUSE DOWN WITH THEIR VOICES!!!!!!!.Johnny Gale is one of the BEST guitar players around. Oh, what a night!! It would not of been possible with all the hard work you did for us to have this great night Norman!! Thank you and keep up the great job you do, enabling us to continue to enjoy the music that will live forever. Bonnie Norris
—Bonnie N |
After New Years New Years Eve Party---WOW!!!!!!!
As Ron from the 3rd Edition said last evening, ?Boy can Norman put on a party or what !!!!?. All I can say is that your AFTER NEW YEARS NEW YEARS EVE PARTY was the best party, function, or event I have ever attended. I go to all of your concerts [and love them all] but this idea that you had about having New Years after New Years was just great. Sammy Sax and the MD?s is the best band I have ever heard. Leslie Anderson [from The Dubs] and the new gal you have singing, Denise Sergi WOW!! WHAT A COMBO!!. The 3rd Edition is just fabulous. I have never seen or heard of them before, but they are sensational. And what can you say about KENNY VANCE and The Planotones. They are the absolute best. I cannot get enough of them .
We came with 4 other people and they all feel the same way. I know you said the next After New Years show is set for January 3, 2009. I would like to reserve a table for 10, please.
Keep up the great work, YOU ARE THE BEST and Thank You

Never a screw up!!!!!
I have to admit that I have come to your Friend Entertainment shows for many years now. They are always outstanding, from the acts you pick, the actual lineup presented on stage, the sound and of course you hosting, you are GREAT. Always terrific!!!
But he devil in me is waiting for you to SCREW UP with something. But there is NEVER EVER, EVER that screw up.
Thank you again for the most wonderful show that was presented to a near capacity crowd last evening at Colden Center. All the groups, The Del Vikings, The Chiffons, The Passions, Cleveland Still and The Dubs, Earl Lewis and The Channels, Fred Parris and The Satins, and of course Johnny Maestro and The Brooklyn Bridge, WHAT A LINEUP!!. Everyone was on top of their game. What a surprise to see your new 10 year old singer KAYLA .Where did you find her?? She was great, what a voice and those dimples. Just sensational!!!
Norman, keep up the great work that you do.

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to tell you how much I enjoyed the concert on Saturday. This was my first oldies concert and let me tell you I was really impressed with all of the performances. Good Morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Morning, Norman! Every word is true. Your upbeat personality, enthusiasm and sincerity comes across to the audience and makes each of us feel as though you are a friend (the name of your business couldn't be more perfect! ) The music of our youth is so exhilarating that we hardly wait until the next concert. You have no idea how very happy I am that we found you and Friend Entertainment.
Have a beautiful day. My very best to you and Renee.
PS. This past Friday night, I was standing waiting to talk to you, when a woman came up to discuss a problem she had with her seat (see wanted an aisle seat.) I was so impressed with how you handled the situation with such ease and grace. You not only accommodated her request, you more than generously gave her back her money and I am sure made a customer for life. I don't know if there is another promoter who would be so devoted to pleasing the public. A very telling incident, I think. You truly are a special person!

Norman,
It has been almost 2 weeks now and I still cannot believe what I saw on Sunday afternoon September 16, 2007. I am still in awe!!!! I heard about how great this show was the last time you did it and said "oh,well,I will go the next time". I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT I SAW!!!!
LITTLE ANTHONY and THE IMPERIALS, JOHNNY MAESTRO and THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE and of course KENNY VANCE and THE PLANOTONES. I almost lost my breath!!!! Conratulations to you Norman, for still another brilliantly produced show!!! I just don't know how you do it, but please don't stop.
There is such a difference on how your show are put together versus all you competition. The groups always seem so much more alive. When they are on your shows it is like they WANT to be there and not like THEY HAVE TO.
You are always so friendly and personalable with your audience and that is so important. Trust me when I tell you that I hear your customers talk about it all the time.
Please, please do this show again. I came with 6 other couples and they all want to see it again and bring more friends. As long as FRIEND ENTERTAINMENT does shows my friends and I will always be there.

Cruise and Tour...With KENNY VANCE and THE PLANOTO
Norman,
Thank you so much for the great seating for our group for Kenny Vance UNPLUGGED. Kenny and the boys put on a great show at New Britain, CT on the 15th, and it was a fantastic start to our Mystery Tour. Thank you for recognizing our group, and please thank Kenny for being so especially nice and shaking all of their hands at the end. Everybody loved the show, the music and their CD's, and Kenny now has a whole bunch of new fans. And please let Kenny know that we did the Planotone walk (as Kenny requested) when we got off the plane in Milwaukee on Friday. I wish we would have had a video camera going -- it was quite a sight and had onlookers scratching their heads. We're looking forward to seeing the Planotones again -- hopefully another outstanding Unplugged performance.

We had a superb time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Norman;
Here's the testimonial I promised you. No BS here!!! We had a superb time!
Hi Norman!
We were at the recent Queens College show where Kenny Vance, Johnny Maestro, and Little Anthony performed.
What a great show it was!
Kenny and the Planotones were their infamous nostalgic golden-toned selves. We really enjoyed their performance, enhanced by some newly added routines. How Kenny can sustain those high notes is amazing!!!
Johnny and the Brooklyn Bridge were right-on with their show. It's wonderful to hear their sounds of the past.Johnny, too, has an amazing voice!
We hadn't seen Little Anthony in quite a while, and we were mesmerized by their performance! Their band did a magnificent job, and they deserve a hearty round of applause. But, Little Anthony and the guys really know how to entertain. Not only are they musical perfectionists, but they put "shtick" into their act that kept us "rocking and rolling" in the aisles. Norman... KEEP THEM AROUND, PLEASE!!!
In all, you did it again, sir!!!
Thanks for a great day in the past!!!
We're looking forward to more and more shows from the folks at Friend Entertainment!
See you soon!

Tonight I went from age 65 back to 17 yrs. old all over again. What a fabulous night, I'll never forget it. When Freddie (Boom-Boom) Cannon said that Allentown, back in 1959, put Tallahassee Lassie on the charts and helped make it number one, I was ecstatic. I know we all loved dancing to the fantastic beat of your songs, I loved it then and I still love it today. Freddie - you are a one-in-a-million entertainer, don't ever change. We love ya honey. You're looking good - Real good.
All the entertainers for tonight's show were absolutely terrific and one of my favorite groups - Danny and the Juniors - you had some good swinging songs as well. At the Hop and Rock and Roll is Here to Stay, two of my favorites.
Keep on bee-bopping.
The Passions, The Chiffons, Shep's Limelites - all wonderful singers/entertainers. So glad you could make the show a fantastic success. All of you in this show still have what it takes - you never lost it. Way to go.

Newies and Oldies
Hi Norman!
Newies and oldies rock and roll together at Wm. Floyd High School
What a fantastic show last nite in Mastic Beach! The Fireflies,Passions, Vito Picone and The Elegants, the Delvikings,Leslie Anderson, and Kenny Vance and the Planatones,Sammy Sax and the MD'S and you Norman gave everyone a blast to the past. Each group is a one of a kind and will never be duplicated.
But, the grand highlight of the nite was hearing ten teenage boys from the high school singing doo-wop. WOW!!!!!!!! I was truly over-whelmed by their talent !
Thanks Norman for such great shows and also for helping people with fundraisers. Without them, we too would not be able to enjoy the misic that will live forever. See you at the next show. —Gary N |
Hey, Hey, Norman...........WOW!!!!!!
Hi Norman,
WOW!!! What a fantastic show last night at William Floyd H.S. in Mastic Beach. This was one of the BEST concerts I've seen by Friend Entertainment! Will be talking this one up for a long time. This show was like a chef salad...a mixture of many different ingredients but heck what a great combination with amazing flavor! The Fireflies outdid themselves, Vito Picone & Elegants were as always entertaining and fun....loved Vito's new Elvis rendition, The Passions were truly phenomenol, Del Vikings great as Ron got the audience reaching higher and higher with him, Sammy Sax and the MD's just get everyone going and what a great performance with Leslie Anderson. Sammy's Latin Beat and colorful vests sure brought a new dimension to the concert and of course Kenny Vance & The Planotones. His sultry style and mellow music brings an amazing finish to any concert. And how about the Floyd high school students with their new DooWop group? It was a treat to see high school teens keeping the oldies music alive. They put on a great performance and I highly commend them for their enthusiasm and love of the oldies music. And Norm, I've said it 100 times if not more, you are the best Producer and Emcee of Oldies Concerts ever. Keep the music alive!!!! Look forward to your next concert. Actually, will see you June 9th at Memorare Club in Seaford with Kenny Vance and Sammy Sax.
Thank you again for a great evening of music and fun!

I Will Always Go To A Friend Entertainment Show...
I never have before, but I certainly WILL NOW!! What a performance you put on last evening at Oceaside H.S. I have never been to any of your shows before. Not for any particular reason. I just may have been away, or had something else to do, IT DOES NOT MATTER. BECAUSE I WILL BE AT ALL, AND I MEAN ALL OF YOUR OTHER SHOWS IN THE FUTURE. The groups that you had in your performance, the sound system and the order in which you presented the artists was sheer GENIUS. If I sound excited, it is because I am. I could not fall asleep until 4:30 AM because I was sound wound up from enthusiasm generated by you and the packed house. In addition,I have to tell you that your PERSONALITY, and SENCE of HUMOR really adds another level above all other shows. You are a sensational host and a great PRODUCER.
Thanks For a great Evening —Lester G. [a new fan] |
The Sound in Oceanside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Norman! Oceanside was drowned by the sound of some of the greatist oldies groups last nite! What a show! Every group was just fabulous in bringing back memories of the music we love to hear. Cleveland Still The Dubs,Freddy Cannon,Vito Picone and the Elegants,Frankie Lyman's Teenagers and the Del Vikings were great!!!! Not only to see a good show, but to help a cause, was the key factor for this great show. A great job, Norman, keep up the great job of doing what you do the best!!!!!!!

Dear Mr. Norman Wasserman
Dear Mr. Norman Wasserman:
I am writing to say that I was at the oldies concert in Denville on Saturday night (front row) and it was one of the best oldies concerts I've seen in a long time!! I am a big fan of Freddy Cannon and it was great to have a chance to see him perform live again after many years. I am also a fan of The Dimensions and the other performers as well, and I really enjoyed seeing them perform. I purchased some merchandise after the concert, and had a chance to talk with many of the performers. It was alot of fun! My wife and I are looking forward to seeing another Friend Entertainment concert again in the near future!

I can't wait to do it again!!
Norman ....It was a pleasure working with you and your
musicians. I had fun working with them and they were profesional in every sense of the word...We have had nothing but good feedback on the show and all its participants...The college was a great venue to work with and we encountered zero friction in getting the show on the stage from all involved.
The Music was wonderful although 10 years before my time. You could see how much these guys enjoyed performing ..they were having fun!! and it
translates into the show. If they are having fun then so is the audience....(we did not plan for ELVIS to show up that night ) but he was a welcome addition to show...!!
I can't wait to do it again!!

I just had to thank-you for a wonderful show Saturday Night. The Heart & Soul of Rock n Roll was outstanding. You brought us 12 great acts. Sammy and the guys did a great job. I look forward to going to all of your shows and I'm never disappointed. I don't know how you do it but don't ever stop. A Fabulous Saturday Evening-4/14/07
Dear Norman, I want to Thank You for putting together a fabulous Doo-Wop concert Saturday evening, 4/14/07, at Queens College. The groups that sang sounded as good as they were when I was a teenager. I remember every song that was sung (except two). I felt like I took a walk down memory lane. I could remember the places, and the people I was with when I would hear the songs being played on the radio.
We need this music in our lives, please continue to do the great job we have been doing. Thank You again.

Thank You!!
Thank you! We were absolutely thrilled with the Kenny Vance Unplugged Show at Trinity last Friday(3/30) and are so excited that you are doing it again. We have been following Kenny and the Planotones for at least 6 years and this was definitely one of the best we have seen. The song he sang for Madison left me with a lump in my throat. Tell him to leave it in. They are playing to a room full of grandparents! We'll be in touch for tickets. Again thanks to you, Kenny and his wonderful Planotones! — Jim and Judy B. |
Absolutely Fantasitic, Beyond Expectations....!!!!
Hi Norm,
This is the first chance I've had to contact you. Well, the show was absolutely fantastic, beyond words & expectations. I don't want to take too much of your time, but I can't help it. My friends (the Chasse's) loved the show and he is a real Doo-Wpp fan that likes the 50's and is a 45 collector. He must have over 1,000 records. He actually at one point stood up cheering and clapping. That's when I stopped worrying about if was going to like the show. The Santiago's (Vivian is from Brooklyn & Anthony are from the Bronx and already Kenny Vance fans. They brought friends and they all just thought the show & venue were great. I've already talked to them and told them about the 9/15 show. I bought one of Kenny's CD's & the new one and have been playing them practically non stop. JB did a great job last night on his radio show and I listened to your interview. Thank you for bringing this show to our area. I know the word will get out more now because everyone (including myself) can't stop talking about the show. Also, did you notice that when Kenny was singing many of the slower songs, the audience got so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Lastly, I got your emails and thanks. My husband and I are cruising out of Bayonne on May 25th and going to some of the same Islands you are, maybe we'll see you. It was great seeing you again & meeting your wife. Take care, Mrs. G

A little late but worth it......
Hi Norman
I just wanted to take a minute to write to you about the last Kenny Vance Unplugged show at the Bellmore theater...
We arrived a little late due to traffic, but from the minute we walked in- the night was just great!!
We've seen Kenny a number of times, so we knew the show would be enjoyable, but the whole "package" made our evening out a real treat.
Your staff members were pleasant and very welcoming and the theater is just the right size for this type of show... Parking was easy too - something simple; but it's a definite plus. We chatted with so many nice people; its was fun to enjoy the show with others who enjoy the music as much as we do.
We plan to attend the Oct show in Bellmore and hope you will consider doing more shows at this theater.
Perhaps one day you can bring Peter Noone to a venue like this on Long Island. He will be appearing at Westbury next month, but I'm sure there are lots of other smaller venues out here that you would sell out after folks see Peter appear on American Idol this week! Hope you get a chance to see him perform live Wed. Mar 21!!
Again, thanks for a fun evening and we hope to see you again soon.
Regards,
Barbara & Peter Landsperg

FLAWLESS!!!! ........ PRICELESS !!!!
Norman, I say this to my wife all the time,"Friend Entertainment shows are just the best". It does not matter where we go, your shows are the best around, and last nights performance was no exception. You know, it is not just the talent, EVERY PRODUCER HAS TALENT, it is how YOU portray the talent, your band and yourself. There is just an AURA of happiness, fun, nostalgia, creativity, and PROFESSIONALISM that surrounds each and every one your shows. Last nights lineup and show was no exception.Your personality and jokes really make a party atmosphere. We do not even attend any of your competitors shows anymore. There is no need to when we have FRIEND ENTERTAINMENT SHOWS to go to.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, for doing what you do and KEEPING THE MUSIC ALIVE. —Raymond and Katherine,B |

Allentown, We loved the concert!!!!!!!!
My friends and I absolutely loved the concert in Allentown!!!!
We've been to Oldies concerts held by radio stations in the past and were very disappointed as they're typically in much larger stadiums / arenas where you really can't see the stage and entertainers well. I have to say that this concert was definitely a pleasant surprise to what began as a "skeptical evening"!
All the entertainers were absolutely fantastic! I cannot believe how great they sound after all these years! It was an even bigger surprise to hear not only the songs we've grown to love, but groups playing other groups songs! Kenny & the Planotones were fabulous - what a voice!
This was honestly one of the best evenings out I've had in a very long time and I would definitely do it again (and again, and again)! You should be very proud of the programs you've put together as not only are you helping others in need, but are providing an outstanding source of entertainment for many.
Thanks to you and everyone that assists in making your concerts such a success!

A letter from a FanDOUBLE UNPLUGGED: JANUARY 6,200
NORMAN!!!!!
I could not have said it better than that fan. You are indeed an angelfrom heaven for putting up these shows for us with Kenny Vance and the Dop Wop greats of our time. I swear there is nothing in this world that
I love more than going to one of your shows. I bless the day I found out about you. I also was at that show Sat.night and was in 7th heaven. It felt as if I got to see 2 shows for the price of one.You are indeed a very ingenious guy to think of all this. I want to
thank YOU personally as I know you will read this email. You are a true blue kind of guy.I hope that you really do put on a tv show like American Bandstand that
you said at the Knights of Columbus on Sept.10.
It would be really wonderful if you would also trasmit the shows live on radio. Maybe someone will buy a radio station just for us. But you wantto know something???? I love coming and seeing them and you live!! It was wonderful and so are you for making it all possible.I feel like a teen. Those were the best times of my life and I love every moment.

A Masterful Performance!!!
Kudos to you Norman and to Friend Entertainment, for a masterful performance!!!! The concept of having both Johnny Maestro and The Brooklyn Bridge and the one and only Kenny Vance and The Planotones on stage at the same time, with no one else, doing what they do best was nothing short of brilliant. Why nobody else has ever thought of that is the reason that your shows are the BEST they are. I have been to The Westbury shows, LAR shows, and Richard Nader shows, none of them have the professionalism and personal touch that your shows offer. Having Johnny and Kenny on the stage was like listening to The Righteous Brothers. They were absolutely phenomenal. Again, Kudos to you Norman and to FRIEND ENTERTAINMENT and thank you for a wonderful evening of class entertainment. —Simon H. |
WHAT AN IDEA!!
NORMAN......Wow, What and Idea!! To put Kenny Vance and Johnny Maestro togetther with their respective groups on stage for over 3 hours, WOW!! I don't know what made you think of this, but I am sure glad you did. And so were the other 1200 +++ people that were in attendance at that fantastic show. Your concept of putting Kenny and Johnny in a "studio" in a basement as if they were just rehearsing or jamming was a great idea. Even the stage was dressed down to give the effect of being in the "studio rehearsing " . Kenny and Johnny singing together was worth every penny. They compliment each other so well. You can also see the mutual respect that they have for each other.Your sound system was great as always and we just loved the question and answer part of the show. It is very interesting to hear these performers answer the questions put to them in such an upfront and honest way. Your hosting for the evening and of that portion was great as well, your little ad-lib jokes that you throw in are always so funny. You are a true showman and I want to let you know how much we apprerciate what you do in helping keep this music alive. Your versatility of creating these shows is just sensational. There is always a different presence at a FRIEND ENTERTAINMENT show, you always make me and my friends want to come back.Your humor and sensitivity come through all the time, and when we meet you in the lobby you are always so cordial and warm.
Again, THANK YOU so much for a show that we will never ever forget. Please do it again!!! Wishing you all the best and a Happy New Year. —Carl and Donna S. |

What a great show you put together Saturday night. You really out-did yourself. We have been to all the holiday show but this one was the best yet. I can tell you that we had a great time and enjoyed ourselves tremendously but I truly feel that way after ALL of your shows. The Flamingos started us off and got us all going. Then came Cleveland Still and the Dubs. Man, can they sing. I love listening to them. The Teenagers were great and made us realize how much we miss Bobby Jay. Kenny, what can you say about Kenny. He is one of a kind. He is just amazing. Earl Lewis is a true entertainerand very classy, very smooth, lots of fun. Freddy is Freddy. He always has everyone on their feet.So much energy. The one and only Johnny Maestro closed the show. That man get better and better every time I see him. His voice is amazing. He is a legend. The "Surprise" ending blew me away. Kenny and Johnny together. 2 of my favorites of all time. How great were they together, OH MY GOD!!!
And you just being yourself, telling jokes and giving away footballs and frisbees was as always very enjoyable. I think we already have tickekts for the next 8 shows. Keep them coming Norman. You are doing a tremendous job. Lets keep this music alive. Thank you for all you do.

Pleasant Surprise in Bellmore!!!
Just a note to say what a pleasant surprise we had on Friday night in Bellmore. This was the first oldies show we ever attended and I want to let you know this will not be the last. We had a great time listening to the Oldies. All the group did a great job. They took us right back to a better time in our lives when things were simple and fun! You also did a great job introducing and telling jokes. Keep it up. I can't wait until the next show.

Wonderful Show at Bellmore
I just want to say what a wonderful show the concert at Kennedy High School was on Friday, October 20th.
All the groups were fantastic, and each show I go to is more enjoyable each time.
I look forward to the next 7 or 8 I have tickets for.
Just want you to know you do a great job of putting on shows. The entertainment is fantastic.
Thanks for so much enjoyment and pleasure.

Thank You, Thank You....!!!!!!!!
Dear Norman,
Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!.
Bellmore rocked on Friday night.
What a teriffic show. The Chiffons started us off with an up beat set of all their hits. They sounded great. Next came the one and only Willie Winfield and the Harptones. What Harmony. The Del-Vikings really shook things up. They were AWESOME. After that Cleveland Still and the Dubs came out, they sounded better than ever. Finally the one and only Freddy Cannon closed the show. Everyone was on their feet. People were up and dancing in the aisles. I have to tell you that you out-did yourself. I go to many of your shows and enjoy each and every one of them but this one was extra special. It was a pleasure working with you. You made running this show an experience that I won't soon forget. Please keep doing what you do to help us keep this music alive. Again , Thank you for everything.

Loved, Loved, Loved It !!!!
Dear Mr. Wasserman,
I just am writing to say what a fabulous surprise I had when I attended your doo wop show in Port St. Lucie, Fl. recently. I have been in Fla. for 12 years and yet have to see ANY concert that compared with yours. From the moment you stepped on stage I knew this time would be different. Wow!!! I was blown away. Not only your choice of bands was phenominal but the warmth they themselves displayed towards the audience was outrageous. Loved Loved Loved it. Please come back soon. I will be bringing a great many friends with me to your next show. They are all jealous they did not attend the first one. Again thanks for the most fun night I have had in 12 years. Sincerely, Vicki H.

Loved Your show
Loved your show in Port St. Lucie this past Saturday. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to having another one over the Holidays as you mentioned.
Can you possibly help with obtaining copies on Norm N. Nite's "Rock On" Vol 1? It was written in 1974 and is a fantastic reference for us Oldies lovers. I've searched around and have not been able to find any. Several of my friends have seen the raggety old copy I have. Thanks,
—Walt S. |
IT WAS GREAT!!
Went to show at the Tradition Stadium. It was great!!! You should have had Freddy Cannon on earlier. Many of the patrons left because the show ran so long! Freddy really brought the house down. Please have another show around Christmas. New entertainers, of course. We've got company coming and they want to go to it.
—Phil D |
Loved the Concert
Loved the concert at traditions field last night. Wish it was just a bit shorter though. My rear end was numb from those seats after 5 hours.... maybe next time the groups could sing two songs less and we could be out of there by 11:00 PM. Love you guys. Keep the music alive!!!! Put me on your e-mail list please....
—Betty L. |
PLEASE COME BACK
Please come back to port st lucie. my husband and i had the best time of our life!
christmas time would be great but then any other time would be too. we don't go out new years eve do to some many drunks drinking and driving. We were born in 52 and 55 and we listened to disco when we started dating in the 70's but your groups took over our heart and gave us soul.

AWESOME!!!!!
I went to your concert in Port St. Lucie last night! It was AWESOME!!!!! It was 5 hours of sheer pleasure!!! Thank you so much for bringing such a wonderful and well organized show to Port St. Lucie!! I can't wait for you guys to come back in December!
Port St. Lucie gets a lot of snow birds. They come down from up north around this time and stay here until the Spring, so there will be a lot of older people here who will enjoy your music. Then there are the "young" people like me (42) who simply enjoy your music!! SO PLEASE COME BACK!!!
Those Drifters were simply awesome as were all of the other groups. And I think that Sammy the sax guy is a sexy, sexy man!!
Thanks again for a wonderful show and please come back!!

GREAT SHOWS!!!!
Great show at Tradition Field in Port St Lucie last night. Looking foward to seeing you at Christmas, or New Years. Sha Boom started the night out on the right foot. The teeagers were very good, but, the Dubs, and the Del-Vikings stole the show. They should consider doing a few songs together. Would have loved to hear the Del-Vikings do their Cool Shake, maybe next time. This is a big Doo Wop town with so many transplants from the North East. We even liked your jokes. Oh! can't forget the band that backed up these groups. Hats off to them to. Thanks Again —Butch Bates |

Dining, Dancing and Doo[Wop-with Kenny Vance
Hi Norman, really enjoyed the show last night. It was fabulous and i'm glad you at least told one joke for my table. The music was great, it was such a bonusseeing Leslie Anderson , we've seen him many times and the Del-Vikings lead singer was also so nice. I had a great time doing the cha-cha contest, the show was fabulous. I am definitely interested in your cablevision show and as soon as you have information, let me know..including info on being on the show...who knows, we could be "golden oldies bandstand" - more popular than american idol —Elayne |
WOW, WOW, WOW,
Hi Norman,
All I can say is WOW. We just got home from the concert and it was absolutely positively fantastic - I can't say enough how much we all enjoyed ourselves - made us forget how horrible it was standing on line in that parking lot for almost an hour. On our way out, our friends and my husband Mike and I were all discussing who our favorites this evening were - after much thought I "voted" for Earl Lewis and the Channels, followed closely by the Teenagers. it was also great to see Bobby Jay - I really miss him and WCBS - FM
This evening was also very special to me - and I found out that you and I have a mutual friend - Bob Rodriguez. Bob and I have known each other and have been friends for the past 35 years. We hadn't seen each other for awhile and i was so pleasantly surprised and thrilled to run into him at the concert tonight. He told me you guys were neighbors. I also ran into the mother of a former client and our best man and his wife, so for me it was like old home week.
So just a few lines to say thank you for a wonderful and memorable evening.
All the best,
—Mary Ann Rubino-Milligan |
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just got home from the Oldies Show and all I can say is ....WOW! We took friends and we had a great time. Too bad the time was a problem. I could have listened to Johnny Maestro all night. Kudos to you for putting on a great Show, I can't wait to do it again!
—Jay Morse |
Kudos and congrats!!!!
Hi Norman,
Kudos and congratulations on a job extremely well done. We should all tip our hats to you. What a wonderful night and wonderful performance. It really did feel like we were all just hanging out in Kenny's basement - jammin' with the guys and having a grand old time. It was a wonderful idea and one that you should be extremely proud of. You pulled off a coup. Keep up the great work and we can't wait to keep coming to more of your shows (just wish you would get into Westchester more though!!). We're looking forward to the dinner in September and the show in Peekskill in October and whatever else comes along (especially shows with Kenny Vance and the Planotones - they are our ABSOLUTE FAVORITES!!!)
Thanks again for all of your hard work and dedication to keep our music alive and kicking.
See you soon.
Regards and best wishes always,

Last Night!!
Hi Norman,
We were at the Kenny Vance Unplugged concert last night. It was an amazing show. It was just such a wonderful treat. Thanks so much for all the great shows.

Heartfelt Appreciation!!
Hi, I just wanted to add my words of heartfelt appreciation to the many that I am sure Kenny and the Planotones will receive for last night's concert.
Not only was the music fabulous but their absolute love of performing is certainly conveyed to the audience. The unusual concept of seeing Kenny "unplugged" gave us the opportunity to have a glimpse of a very talented man, who is sensitive, charming, approachable and without pretense. I think the combination of these qualities is what keeps bringing the audience back to see Kenny time and time again.
Although I was very much immersed in Rock and Roll when I was a teenager, my husband, who went to high school with Kenny, was oblivious to the music of our generation. We "discovered" Kenny and the Planotones," pretty much by accident, when we attended a Rock and Roll show at Westbury Music Fair several years ago. At that time, my husband was recovering from a rare, very aggressive cancer. His doctors at Memorial Sloan-Kettering had marveled at his survival and we felt blessed. Never before had time seemed more precious. Every day was truly a gift. We made a conscious effort to have more fun in our lives. It was easy and convenient to attend the shows on Long Island where we live. I was amazed to see my husband's response to the music I was always so connected to but was so foreign to him in his youth. We have purchased all of Kenny's CDs and Mark (my husband) plays them in the car and at home. I was both shocked out of my socks and pleased to hear him join in last night at the end of the show, when the group and the audience sang "Looking For An Echo!"
So Kenny, my heartfelt thanks for the incredible music, the great fun, and immense joy! I can't believe you've made me a 50 something year old groupie! Rhodi
Ps. Now if you can tell me how to get Mark to agree to take the Rock and Roll cruise this winter, I would be forever grateful! But I am working on it! —Rhodi |
Great time was had by all last night.
Kenny was the exactly how I thought he would be. He had a great presence during the Question and Answer period. I felt the genuinine honesty and passion of his answers. He has a quiet dignity about him.
It made the trip of 2.5 hrs, each way, well worth it!!! We went home singing the songs and looking forward to the next concert.
Hope you do the interview and the Unplugged program again.
Thanks again,
Deb and Peter Beckmann

The Finest ExperienceI ever had.......
Dear Norman,
The show at Queensborough Community College was absolutely the finest experience I have had in the 5 years that I have been attending "oldies" shows. The format was pure genius. I love Kenny Vance like no other performer and I love those Tones, too. The way that each member of the Tones came out to join Kenny and showcase his own musical abilities was pure heaven.
Whenever I attend a Planotones concert I find myself spellbound. When I leave, I am lifted to better place for days.
I drove on the LIE from Wading River in heavy "returning from the Hamptons" traffic for over an hour and a half. I'd do it again in a heartbeat! I would be happy to see the entire show again just as it was or with changes. It was a spectacular evening lead by a charismatic and gifted performer backed by an extraordinary supporting cast.
Can you do it again? How about a nice little venue in Suffolk or Eastern Nassau County?
Finally, thanks for orchestrating this fantastic night. It was a privilege to be there.
Sincerely yours,
Ed Bigall

Kenny Vance: UNPLUGGED ----was great!!
We were at last night's concert- Kenny Vance and the Planotones Unplugged- it was great. We are longtime fans and have watched the Planotones evolve. I like all of the songs but miss some of the ones with that used to be part of their concerts- Se?orita, etc. some of the songs that are on their CD from the Bitter End (?). What talent! What charm! We could listen to them for as long as they would sing and never get tired of listening. Today we heard them on satelite radio, too! Thanks for hosting such a great evening. —Chris and Gene |
What a night!!!!
Hi Norman. My friends and I have become 60 year old groupies for Kenny Vance and the Planotones. We have been to many concerts but Sunday night was the best concert we have ever experienced. The group is fabulous, their sounds are unique and their harmony is great. The questions were wonderful and I wish the Planotones were there to answer some questions, I would like to know a little about their history as well. Their music makes you want to dance, get romantic and just sit their mesmerized. Cannot wait to go on September 10th. This was our first event by you and it will be the beginning of many. You were very entertaining as well and it was a great night. Thanks. Elayne Dougherty, Brooklyn, NY and friends. —Elayne Dougherty and friends |
What a Concept!!!!
Hey Norm,
Tonight's show was amazing!!! What a great concept. Kenny is so warm and sincere and captures everyone's heart in his world of music. Of all the performers I've seen in my lifetime, he's the only one that does what he does with feeling and ease and deep from within the heart. His band is unique and kudos to Angel, Frenchy, John, & Chip. Bring us more of this type of show.
Luv ya,

Fire Alarms, Doo-Wop and You!!
Boy, The fire alarms were really going on loud at your show last Saturday!!! How do you keep on putting these GREAT SHOWS? My husband and I have been coming to your shows since we found you over 8 years ago. We were a guest of friends and they took us to our first show with you. And since that time I have to seriously say that we have never ever seen a show that we did not just LOVE. My husband and I try to figure out, why do you put this group here and that group there? We have given up trying to figure it out, because what ever you do, you do it GREAT!!! One of the other reasons that we come to your shows is YOU. You are such a gracious and FUNNY host, you just make the night complete. Even when we see you in the lobby you always find a moment to chat with us. THAT?S NICE!!!
Thanks again, Norman ?for keeping the music alive? Keep up the great work!!!

Doo-Wop and my grandson!!
Hi Norman
Just a little note to let you know what a great time we had Saturday, night at Wm.Floyd H.S.the concert was fantastic as always.I had my 7 year old grandson with us,taking a chance that he would enjoy it or even stay awake which he did till the second act in the second set. During the intermission he on his own went around getting the groups to sign autographs on the flyers you had. The groups were great especialy the singer Nathaniel Leslie Anderson..the 2 of them talked for awhile leslie asked questions and got answers from Cameron. When he was finished signing the paper he also signed a personal CD for Cameron and gave it to him...I want you to know he slept with it that night. He is so proud of this gift and it was so nice of Leslie to do that. I was a great night. Thank you for another happy night.
Do hope the new theater project goes ahead without any problems. Looking forward to the next show. Take care

Dear Friend Entertainment,
The reason that I am writing this letter is to let you know what a great time I had at the doo wop show last saturday night at MacArthur H.S.
I really enjoyed the Demensions. That group is so great!! The way that the voices and sounds come together makes the Demensions one of the greatest groups of the 60?s. I purchased the CD encore, which i had played over and over, it is a great CD.
I have been a doo wop fan ever since i was 15 rears old. I am now 57 and i still love doo wop. I have over 5000 original records. I also go to almost all the doo wop shows and my car even has a license plate the reads ?doo wop 2?
we?ll thanks to friend entertainment for keeping our music alive. Can you please let me know when the Demensions will appear again on one of your shows.
I also like to see on your shows Vito Balsamo, Vito Picone and the Elegants, The Duprees, The Tokens, The Classics, Johnny Maestro, Little Anthony and Ronnie Spector.
We?ll keep up the good work!!
